Being serious about a promising new technology usually means going slow and emphasizing what tools and practices work for particular contexts. Instead we are all being told to use the latest because we will be left behind. It doesn't make sense to be slinging slop everywhere and then complain about journalism and public discourse because that is an option that was rejected.
