Ok. So we have just taken out all of Israel's foes with force. They are safe now right? We can stop supporting them militarily in every way now right? They no longer need any weapons, intelligence support, defense support, etc, right? If this is the right path to their long term safety then this must be true.
- nailer 8mo agoIranian regime was the entire middle east’s foe, including Irans. Speak to your local Persian.
- I-M-S 8mo agoIf by local you mean an émigré, they might be the worst person to ask.
- nailer 8mo agoPeople inside iran are echoing the same sentiments as the emigres.
- stevenhuang 8mo agoYou need to learn your history. The Iranian people have lived under oppressive authoritarianism for 40 years since the Iranian revolution. Putting it lightly, many Iranian (within Iran) do not support the current regime. Especially not the educated.
- markus_zhang 8mo agoFor sure a lot of people in Iran hate the regime. But given their 40 or so years of rule, I doubt they could achieve that without a strong basis. And yeah Iranians out of Iran definitely hate it too.
- catlikesshrimp 8mo agoTo take a break from breaking havoc in Gaza, there was an israeli incursion into Lebanon (which included a fantastic supply chain attack) Then they tried to pick a fight in Siria for some BS reason (intervening Siria for protecting some jew friendly faction inside Siria, a la Russia protecting russiansnin Ukraine), then went to Iran, then continued milling Gaza, and now we are back at Iran, again. No, support will never falther.
- graeme 8mo ago>intervening Siria for protecting some jew friendly faction inside Siria, a la Russia protecting russiansnin Ukraine It was the Druze and they were actually being killed. "The friend of my enemy deserves to die" is not an attitude you have to adopt, even if you disagree with the Israeli response to the killings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_2025_massacres_of_Syrian_Druze https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_2025_massacres_of_Syrian...
- catlikesshrimp 8mo agoNo, it is you saying someone deserves to die. I correctly stated Israel is invading another country for any reason which is not national security. It is the exact same sht with Russia in Ukrained because Israel also appropiated of Sirian territory. Israel has enough genocide at home, no need to invade other countries
- frakkingcylons 8mo agoHave you never seen the word Syria spelled out?
- blindstitch 8mo agoGo to the wikipedia page for Syria and click the dropdown for other languages
- catlikesshrimp 8mo agoNoted. My brain hadn't adapted to the [appropiate] spelling when typing on a phone screen.
- muzani 8mo agoPretty sure killing all the enemies just turns the rest of the world into enemies.
- PessimalDecimal 8mo agoThis is the gist of Israel's problem. Successful tactically, but no long term strategy. They're increasingly isolated. As Baby Boomer voters lose power in US, Israel's isolation will become more obvious.
- exodust 8mo agoThe long-term strategy is peace & stability. Before you ask "how's that going", remember that doing nothing wouldn't result in a satisfactory answer to that question either. The idea that "killing the enemies turns the rest of the world into enemies" is absurd. Other countries wouldn't follow the Iranian regime into martyrdom. What would be the reason: "we don't like war"? Nobody likes war, but also nobody likes evil dictators emerging on this planet and repressing 90 million of its inhabitants, and waging industrial scale terrorism offensives beyond its borders.
- muzani 8mo agoIn history class, we asked the teacher why the British killed these rebels and exiled those rebels. The rebels who led an army and killed many were exiled while the rebel who only had one kill was hung in the middle of his village and left to rot as an example. She sat they killed some of those rebels, it would have sparked more rebellions. The difference was political power, even in defeat. Mercy is a big part of survival. It's a bit like law enforcement. If there's no police, criminals are everywhere. If there's too many police, corruption becomes the standard, along with police brutality and profiling. You can never get it down to zero, just low enough.
- ergocoder 8mo agoTo be fair, nobody likes Iran
- aizk 8mo agoAmerica / Israel's partnership goes a lot deeper, it started in the cold war, and it's quite interesting. It heightened significantly after 9/11, where Israel spied (and still does) on all of America's enemies to prevent another 9/11, doing a lot of dirty work, giving intel as part of a partnership. I can't imagine both countries ever wanting to get rid of that partnership. This part of the equation is often left out in the conversation, presumably because it's hush hush ultimately.
