This seems nauseatingly reddit-like.
- byrneseyeview 19y agoI was wondering when this would get posted. I assumed the video wouldn't make it to the front page, but apparently all it takes is a 'startup' twist. On an unrelated note, has anyone noticed that Ron Paul's campaign is just like a startup? He's even making something people want!
- Caligula 19y agoIf by something you mean nothing, then yes you are right.
- mangodrunk 19y agoIf by nothing you mean he wants the government to have nothing to do with our business, then yes you are right. Anyways, this article is stupid, he catches some girl off guard and asks a dumb question. And he tries to link it with "having a sales pitch down". I wasted my time looking at the site, I wasted my time replying to a troll, and now I just wasted time adding my two cents on this article.
- alex_c 19y agoDon't worry, there are lots of good "Top X" lists being posted to make up for it :p
- transburgh 19y agoIsn't that the change from "Startup News" to "Hacker News" was meant for? To have more news that was off-topic and non-startup to brake up all the same posts?
- rms 19y agoYes. But there's still a certain aversion to having truly mainstream news on this site. For now, it's not a problem because the mainstream news is pretty rare.
- transburgh 19y agoI will keep the humorous posts to a minimum.
- rms 19y agoThey really don't bother me, I'd encourage you to post whatever you want. It's up to Paul Graham and the editors to fix it if there is a problem.
- ecuzzillo 19y agoThe point was to make it like reddit-of-old, not reddit-of-now. This is nauseatingly reddit-of-now-like.
- rms 19y agoIt also made boingboing (and wasn't even posted by Xeni). It's interesting and funny. It doesn't bother me. You should try not to let it bother you either.
- floam 19y agoReddit-of-old had this stuff. Just in manageable small quantities sprinkled over the smart stuff. As long as it stays close to this ratio, I think it's fine.
