If your "protocol" runs over IP (which I doubt you can avoid these days) it doesn't make much of a difference if it's HTTP or whatever.

- Gigachad 8mo agoOnly non IP protocols I can think of are proprietary zigbee protocols for local communication with devices, and lora mesh radio protocols like MeshCore.
