- rvz 9mo agoIt is purely psychological. He is selling fear through scaremongering about safety when that is just a marketing scapegoat for everyone to continue buying more tokens to use Claude. Why do you think he continues to scare-monger about open weight models?
- uejfiweun 9mo agoHmm. So you're saying that he's intentionally overhyping the danger of ML models in a cynical play to eliminate open models through regulation or backlash, when in reality there is no danger. But if this is the case why isn't Altman and Demis saying the same?
- observationist 9mo agoOh, I get it, I just really think Dario believes his own spiel. The dude is convinced he's one of the smartest people on the planet and is single handedly guiding the course of civilization, and so on. Anthropic lacks a capable Diogenes figure, to keep them grounded and humble.
- rvz 9mo agoNope. He is selling fear to you so that you buy more tokens from him and Anthropic raises more money until it IPOs. As the open weight models get better, it threatens Anthropic. So he dials up the threats against open weight models. All the AI providers do not trust anyone to achieve "AGI" (whatever that means) under the excuse of "safety", which is why Anthropic "exists". I have never seen Anthropic release a single open weight model. Ever. Why is that?
