Advanced Aerial Robotics Made Simple
- ciaranmca 9mo agoIt’s a really interesting project, worth checking out the video where he merged it with a companion computer to do computer vision tasks and inject controls straight into the flight controller https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uaY2G5Kbj_g https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uaY2G5Kbj_g
- homeonthemtn 9mo agoOh yeah, this'll scratch an itch.
- jacquesm 9mo agoThis one is my favorite, a 'cyclocopter': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoVmejDsMrM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoVmejDsMrM
- echelon 9mo agoI love this. It's like a steam boat. Or old-timey water wheel.
- saidinesh5 9mo agoHe also has a fun YouTube channel: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTSCOv-lGtMax-oA4Pnq8OTxd4fTucrjQ https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTSCOv-lGtMax-oA4Pnq8OT... One of the first flight controllers he coded was in Arduino.. https://github.com/nickrehm/dRehmFlight/tree/master/Versions/dRehmFlight_Teensy_BETA_1.3 https://github.com/nickrehm/dRehmFlight/tree/master/Versions... He deliberately kept the code in single file and made sure it was still easy to follow.
- jacquesm 9mo agoIt's a little work of art and shows in the most powerful way what such a little microcontroller can do with the right code. Ironically, he says at some point in one of his videos 'I'm not a software guy' and next gives a masterclass about how it is done.
- mapt 9mo agoI don't care as much about the combat as about the efficiency. That's a big wing airfoil, and it's cheap foam, and it's not as mechanically complex as a helicopter. There is potential here for low-speed heavy lift. I wish they'd included a scale-up of batteries from "Tiny" to "Too heavy to loft", with sustained in place hover times and watts per kilogram as the performance metric.
- ge96 9mo agoHow about a cardboard plane https://youtu.be/UI52ghUYKO4?si=LCY7mJhWDwH6MZy8&t=2044 https://youtu.be/UI52ghUYKO4?si=LCY7mJhWDwH6MZy8&t=2044
- jacquesm 9mo agoThat guy is 3 parts genius and two parts absolute madman. He's like Lilienthal and if he's not going to be more careful he'll end up the same way. 15 meters is all it took. When you fail with aircraft it is better if they don't work at all. He is now getting into an area where the accidents will get more severe until he becomes more careful or ends up in the hospital or worse.
- saidinesh5 9mo agoOld one but good... Flying wing from pizza box: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hTYuj7hzKeI https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hTYuj7hzKeI
- jacquesm 9mo agoYes, but that other guy is actually sitting in his cardboard plane.
- dwa3592 9mo agoThat was freaking cool.
