Extension to Fix YT Background Play
- carlosj 8mo agoUnlike Samsung Internet and Brave, this extension kept working amid the recent YouTube changes. The extension works for any website. Switching tabs / apps keeps the audio of media playing in the background. Available on iOS via Safari and Microsoft Edge. Available on Android via Edge, Firefox, Yandex, Kiwi Lemur and other firefox/chromium browser supporting extensions. https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/keepbackplay/dgcbepoghjphcihldlmiaefeadookoff https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/keepbackpl... https://apps.apple.com/app/keep-back-play/id6755731215 https://apps.apple.com/app/keep-back-play/id6755731215 https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/keep-back-play%40apps.jeurissen.co/ https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/keep-back-play%40ap... https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/keep-back-play/ojhbilcpmgdaaollkmdnhalkakdijonl https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/keep-back-play/ojhb...
- podlp 8mo agoHow do sites stop background playback? I’m guessing there’s more than just FocusEvent on the window.
- carlosj 8mo agoThe extension tackles two problems: 1) it deals with the browser normally pausing any media when you switch tabs/apps 2) it tells websites they are still in the foreground To prevent any potential side-effects. These changes only apply when you start playing media on a website.
