Sometimes to get big amounts of money to change hands, businesses scale up and the sky's the limit with the only bottle-neck being the consumers' ability to afford what mass-produced commodities they so strongly desire.
Other times the limit is on the capital side, and boy do the biggest capitalists have more money than ever, so much it can put consumers to shame like never before. Plus some people think consumers' ability to spend is a fraction of what it was not long ago, and getting worse.
The amount that well-heeled capitalists are capable of parting with, without having any effect on their lifestyle, can be truly phenomenal by comparison.
People are people and not everybody is going to limit themselves to what they can really afford all the time, and it can be pretty easy to slip into unfathomable debt, especially if there is a little too much exuberance. Average consumer or not. The sky might not be the limit for some, but getting into orbit might require a bridge (loan) too far.
Now if all the richest people in the world combined can't afford something, it's got to be big. Using up all the free cash in their hands and then some should not be a problem as long as nothing else more serious comes along until the debt can be paid back.
"Should" is doing a lot of work here though.
