Great critique. Let me clarify the definitions, because we actually agree on the danger, but differ on the vector.
When I speak of "patching," I am not referring to Wetware Modification (CRISPR/Genetic editing) or Hardware Injection (Neuralink). You are absolutely right: that path leads to a "rat's nest" of dependencies and, inevitably, to the biological caste system you describe in point #2.
My proposal for a "Patch" is Firmware/Software based (Cognitive Architecture).
The "Speciation" is already here (Your Point #2): We don't need to wait for genetic editing to see the stratification. It’s happening right now via Attention Economics. The "Haves" are already paying for low-tech environments, deep-reading tutors, and friction (Montessori logic). The "Have-nots" are being raised by algorithms that fry their dopaminergic reward loops. The bifurcation won't be between "Genetically Enhanced" vs. "Legacy." It will be between "Sovereign Operators" (who can hold a thought for 30 minutes) and "Dopamine Recipients" (who cannot function without external stimuli). That gap is widening faster than any genetic engineering could achieve.
The Definition of Human (Your Point #3): You ask if we will lose our humanity with these efficiencies. My argument is the opposite: We are already losing it by doing nothing. If "Human" means an entity capable of Executive Function, impulse control, and abstract synthesis, then the current environment (infinite scroll, effortless answers) is actively dehumanizing us through atrophy. The "Patch" I propose (Deep Reading, Intentional Friction/Tzimtzum, Impulse Override) isn't about becoming Post-Human. It’s about fighting to remain Human in an environment designed to turn us into APIs.
I’m not suggesting we engineer a new brain. I’m suggesting we teach the old one how to run a firewall.
