I can't believe that. If you really wanted to spend the money for hn, which it seems many here do, you could save up 5$ worth of quarters at least.

- tlrobinson 18y agoHe says "$5 = INR240", Indian Rupees, so I assume he was from India. The cost of living is vastly cheaper than the US in many parts of the world, so $5 may seem like not much here, but Wikipedia says India's average income is $977. So $5 is about 1/200th that. Say you're making $70,000, that would be like paying $350 a year for Hacker News. Now is it worth it?
