Why Mint over Ubuntu? I like the Ubuntu experience out of the box. It seems to handle high-DPI and per-display UI scaling well, due to Wayland. From what I've read, Mint still uses X11.
- mixmastamyk 9mo agoThey are quite similar but Mint doesn't use snap. Mint can use X11 or Wayland. I think Cinnamon didn't have Wayland support for a while, but that was fixed a couple of years ago.
- shmeeed 9mo agoWayland on Mint is still experimental, and will be for years to come. I've yet to hear from somebody using it. Are you the one? ;)
- mixmastamyk 9mo agoI've tried it and it worked fine. Believe Gnome has most of their user base on it by now so the libs are well exercised.
- shmeeed 9mo ago22.2 gave me problems on a laptop with Nvidia. Didn't try it for 22.3 yet, I'll give it a go then... though I wonder what Gnome libs do for Cinnamon?
- mixmastamyk 9mo agoIt’s built on top. Nvidia is a wildcard however.
