Going forward, make sure you have strength in a secondary field rather than just concentrating on development. Know business or science or engineering so you can do in-field application development. Perhaps with a minor in the subject if possible. These kinds of people will be (much) less common than Python weenies. Or be traditional. Gate-kept fields like medicine, or higher skilled fields like law or biotech/pharma are still there and people still need new meds. Perhaps law is oversubscribed, don’t have personal experience there.
