TikTok removals up 150% following U.S. joint venture
- sudonem 9mo agoI mean really… it’s for the best.
- mc32 9mo agoIndeed but also odd that quitters are citing "updated terms" for their exit but those terms mirror terms from 2024 -i.e. collecting the same information as before... I think that means that they weren't paying much attention to the terms they now find unsavory.
- k12sosse 9mo agoChina collecting information on you is ok because they're thousands of miles away. But AMERICA collecting information on you when they're next door currently waterboarding your neighbor gives people the heebeejeebees

- ramon156 9mo agoIf I were American I would be afraid of what my government does if I talk about Epstein a lot. In the most extreme case they would arrest you (theyve arrested/threatened got less). China does not care
- hshdhdhj4444 9mo agoIt also doesn’t help that this wasn’t an open auction where people could buy the company based on the ability to make a return on invested capital, but rather was a bunch of friends of the administration hand picked to own and run the joint.
- xarope 9mo agoperhaps due to this? "TikTok's new US joint venture has made changes to its privacy policy that include expanding the type of location data the company can collect from its 200 million American users. The new policy was published after investors closed a deal with TikTok's Chinese owner ByteDance on Thursday to run the popular short-form video app's business in the US. The new joint venture said in its updated privacy terms that it may now "collect precise location data, depending on your settings" - a change from the previous policy which allowed for the collection of "approximate" location data." - sam0x17 9mo agoEveryone is getting Skylight instead. TikTok is literally blocking the ability to use the word Epstein and pretty much all leftist content, reports of this all over social media
- hmm37 9mo agoI'm curious if you could just sideload the international version, or are there checks/it automatically accesses the US servers based on location.

- buzzwords 9mo agoCan't believe USA is becoming such a third world these days. What happened to tiktok is something that would normally happen in a banana Republic. It's so sad to see.
