imn a software engineer/entrepreneur .. and i’m british, and that article is about UK public services ... so this isn’t distant or abstract for me .. aslo, SV isnt some monolith I’m disconnected from .. even without living there .. its companies (especially those ones that can be seen from this original poster (imbecile ?) view point as evil have materially shaped my career and opportunities in ways that wouldn’t have existed otherwise .. btw .. you can be skeptical of Palantir or US tech influence without collapsing everything into an us verus them narrative or assuming disagreement maps cleanly to geography ..

  Yeah sometimes I question the time and effort I give to some comments on this forum, especially when it comes to more nuanced non-programming topics. I’ve seen what some people have to say about programming and it’s appalling… extend that to something on which they’re not even formally educated? Yeesh

Okay, that rationale was suitable for other eras, however in THIS MOMENT, the "us vs them" is actually an accurate description of CLASS WARFARE BEING WAGED BY THE TECHNOCRAT/PLUTOCRAT CLASS. Wake up. Furthermore, what is NOT evil about a company who enables the mass surveillance of citizens by the government so that the government can target them for kidnapping, home invasion, and murder (no exaggeration - it's what's happening, see the front page article today about Palintir's enabling of it) as political retribution for dissenting against fascism? It's evil. We can say it. Don't gatekeep it.
