This is the default belief we should hold based on historical technological changes. Any argument to either extreme requires a lot of evidence.
- al_borland 9mo agoI’d be more apt to sit in the boring middle ground if all of the people hyping it up weren’t convincing the c-suite to lay off entire departments. Some wet blankets are needed to cool things down and get the general tone back to reality.
- IAmGraydon 9mo agoHumans are terrible at discerning the truth and tend to swing toward extreme opinions. Look at the stock market - always frothy or fearful, but very rarely in the sensible middle. The same is true of AI. It's very useful, but about as world changing as something like the word processor. Not as useful nor as disruptive as the internet by a long shot. I believe that to be the truth. The question is how long it will take for the world to realize this.
