Bank of England 'must plan for a financial crisis triggered by aliens'

matthewsinclair 9mo ago
I know this is bonkers, but the headline is something I'd _never_ imagined I'd read. Amazing.

I'd read it as "extreme situations triggered by previously-considered-impossible events". With a subtext of "do not make a crisis more likely by mentioning the triggers we are actually worried about".

Much like enthusiasts of "zombie apocalypse practice" are in practice also preparing for other things.

    The Pentagon and CDC have zombie-themed generic plans -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONOP_8888 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONOP_8888 --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preparedness_101:_Zombie_Apocalypse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preparedness_101:_Zombie_Apoca...

LOL if little green AIlens come and get blamed for the financial crisis, I'm sold 100% on Capricorn One (1978)

Wrong template. Try https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_3 (1977) instead. Or maybe they aren't that competent, lacking collision avoidance systems when out of controlled spacetime: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangar_18_(film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangar_18_(film) :-) Or are dumb hiveminds, having lost their queen due to whatever, and are only caring about satisfying their craving for catfood like in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_9 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_9 ? ;-)

Former analyst says BoE should plan just in case the White House announces that aliens exist. On the one hand, ridiculous that this even made the Independent. On the other hand, entirely plausible as a near-last resort to distract public attention from the still-unreleased Epstein files.

the independent is a shadow of its former self (which wasnt that great to begin with). Its just content & clickbait farming now

This is the best soft reveal that the elite know about extra-terrestrial intelligence so far. We see NASA doing soft reveals about Martian life, but this is next level.
