Maybe some AP courses don't hold up as well, but for my part I took AP Calculus BC and Physics C in high school, and using solely what I learned there was able to ace my electricity and magnetism and calculus III courses at a well-respected engineering school without touching the textbook. My experience may have been skewed by unusually good teachers, but making that kind of legitimate education available to high school students is anything but a scam.
