UK police used Copilot AI "hallucination" when banning football fans
- duxup 10mo agoI had to edit the title to fit on HN, original title: "Deny, deny, admit: UK police used Copilot AI “hallucination” when banning football fans"
- quantified 10mo agoThere is now the opportunity for flat-out lying to be excused as a "Copilot hallucination" too.
- d1sxeyes 10mo agoIt’s worse. The guy in charge, and the folks working in the FOI response department repeatedly asserted that the force do not use AI, and did not use AI on this occasion. Not sure you can pass that off as a hallucination.
- quantified 10mo agoYeah well there's the whole UK post office/Toshiba scandal that cost suicides and jail sentences for wrongly accused postal employees but the cause was Toshiba's faulty software and the lies of the UK postal service.
- mmmlinux 10mo agoNo No, We didn't use AI. We used this cool new windows copilot feature, look it has a button on the keyboard and everything!
- Stevvo 10mo agoGet a feeling the government will launch some sort of inquiry into antisemitism in the police to distract and brush the incompetence and cover up under the rug.
- adammarples 10mo agoActually the Home Secretary is gunning for the police chief to be fired

- HackerThemAll 10mo agoCopilot is the stupidest of them all. And I suspect the UK police used either free or cheap version, which is even more stupid.
