- HelloMcFly 14y agoI feel that article, along with many more closely tied with computer science, significantly underestimate the utility of SPSS. In addition to actually now supporting integration with R and Python, their feature-set over the last several years has grown impressively to accomplish the majority of what one needs in a much more user-friendly way. Plus it has actual ongoing support, which is nice. I hate SAS, and am not a fan of Stata. R is obviously awesome though, but for the really complicated stuff I go with Mplus which I swear nobody seems to know about.
- tomrod 14y agoHellMcFly--you're hellbanned so I couldn't reply directly. What is MPlus?
- pav3l 14y agoMplus is quite popular in social sciences. From what I understand its main functionality is fitting Latent Variable Models and structural equation modelling. I've never used it myself, but it can in fact do things for which it is hard to find R packages at this point.
