It was extremely cynical. I could absolutely relate. At one time, I had every single one of his books. My favorite written book was The Way of the Weasel, which was probably one of his least popular publications. I stopped viewing the comic after his infamous tirade (sometimes, the artist's personality can be so overwhelming, that the art gets obscured -a couple of actors are similar). I'd always disagreed with his personal outlook, but it didn't spoil his work for me.
