- ranger_danger 9mo agoSpiderFoot seems a lot more usable for real OSINT work to me.
- IrishTechie 9mo agoI’ve just Googled SpiderFoot and gone to the top result (spiderfoot.org). I see four banners on-screen promoting VPNs and crypto and a pop-up that reappears every few seconds telling me that a VPN is mandatory to use the site. I’m guessing this is not the right site?

- neilv 9mo agoTheir brochure Web site snapshot (this probably isn't the best snapshot, but maybe close): https://web.archive.org/web/20230104231600/http://www.spiderfoot.net/ https://web.archive.org/web/20230104231600/http://www.spider...
- ericlmtn 9mo agoNever heard of this but seems like it's much more powerful. I built this for normies like me that just want to monitor the situation and pretend I'm doing something useful
- NedF 9mo ago[dead]
- jaybyrd 9mo agogotta love the subway surfers. beautiful...
- nine_k 9mo ago(Where's the US involvement when there are actual people being killed by hundreds and thousands when they fight for their liberty?..)
- hdgvhicv 9mo agoLibya worked out so well.
- nine_k 9mo agoThe intensity of protests and the general experience of the population with living in a saner society were much weaker in Libya, if memory serves.
- poulpy123 9mo agoThe US have been actively undermining and attacking Iran for several decades now. Since the dictator they put in power got overthrown actually. You can say it's a good thing or a bad thing, but you cannot say they do nothing
- Gys 9mo agoOSINT = open source intelligence Had to look it up and might not the only one
- instagraham 9mo agoI do want to encourage more BSky use, but a lot of imp OSINT accounts are still on X. Maybe can we have XCancel integration? Also to better communicate urgency, a scrolling RSS feed news ticker might slap. I can see myself chaining monitors together and having this in my spare bedroom, in the eventuality that I end up in a house with a spare bedroom
- ericlmtn 9mo agoI adopted BSky over X's ridiculous rate limits and price... BSky was completely free. Never seen XCancel before but that looks integratable RSS is on my list next
- instagraham 9mo agoAlso, I genuinely look forward to setting up a situation monitor when I shift to a bigger place. I've seen the memes about "monitoring the situation with the lads" and always thought it would actually be quite fun. Thanks for making this project!
- aspect0545 9mo agoEncourage Mastodon use. There’s nothing that stops Bluesky from ending up just like Twitter.
- KyleBerezin 9mo agoI think the protocol is actually pretty open, and can be hooked into without them. I may be wrong though, I read into how it worked years ago.
- idiotsecant 9mo agoIn theory it is, but as of now you can't actually use any provider other than bluesky

- poulpy123 9mo agoIt's doomscrolling but OSINT
- macartain 9mo agoInteresting.. Minor point: it would be good to know what each of the default panels is? not entirely clear to me? Intrigued by spiderfoot, but seeing that the last release - from that repo anyway - was in 2022, I assume the action has moved elsewhere, given that this is a very quickly changing field - anyone know? Both of these make me realise how out of date my copy of Bazzell's OSINT Techniques is..
- mskogly 9mo agoYou need to test that on mobile
