Considering Kathy's history, I think she probably has a bit more experience with harassment than either you or Laura. Given that, isn't it a bit strange that you're dismissing her opinion out of hand?
> To put it into an extreme example
Please don't.
- Tichy 14y agoI am not dismissing her experience, just the notion that because she has more experience, other, "lesser" opinions are invalid. Also, I suppose Laura has more experience with not being harassed, so why dismiss her opinion out of hand? Anyway, this one is not going to be resolved by logic... Do you really believe that every woman will experience harassment eventually?
- anthonyb 14y agoIt's statistically very likely.
- Tichy 14y agoThen show the statistics, please? I agree that most women will be hit on by unpleasant people now and then, but I mean serious stuff (career changing stuff).
- Tichy 14y agoNote: I've decided to log out of HN now, as discussions are generally a waste of time. In case you respond to my above comment, we'll probably start the whole useless circle again. Discussing what is and what is not sexism and so on. Instead, just read Laura's article again, she put it much better than I can. Apart from that, the topic is too complex for deeply nested HN comments...
