I second this ... every job I've had (with the exception of my first programming job) has come through contacts made at meetups/user groups. Although, secondary to that has been keeping up a laundry list of secondary projects that I work on on my own personal time.
- mdhayes 14y agoAlso agree on side projects. In my opinion both show eagerness and give people the opportunity to get to know you/your work so it lessens the risk of hiring.
