According to ancient Apple ads, a "Mac" is not a "PC".
- mghackerlady 9mo agoMacs fundamentally can't be personal computers since they're entirely controlled by apple. Any computer running nonfree software can't be a personal one
- kube-system 9mo agolol so the IBM PC isn't a PC?
- wizzwizz4 9mo agoThere are free BIOSes.
- kube-system 9mo agoIBM didn't ship any on their PC
- wizzwizz4 9mo agoSo? You can replace the ROM chip (or flash it, if it's an EEPROM). The whole point of free software is that you don't have to limit yourself to what the manufacturer says you can do.
- kube-system 9mo agoI was responding to: > Any computer running nonfree software can't be a personal one
- wizzwizz4 9mo agoNow that I understand it, this is an excellent point.
