Obviously there is the hubris of the current president, but who even fed this to him as an idea? The only thing I can think of are geopolitical weirdos who fantasize about future wars with Europe. An outcome that they are willing us to closer every passing day.
- cosmicgadget 10mo agoLike many dummies in a position of authority, he gets weirdly hung up on arbitrary things - especially when it goes over well with his followers and rankles his foes. This likely started with a discussion of mineral resources, the golden dome, and/or maritime navigation (see also Panama).

- Sabinus 10mo agoBecause the Trump admin thinks that Europe is dependant on and exploiting America and is in the process of destroying itself with Muslim migration and lefty policies. Vance in particular is big on this. Presumably Trump wants to lock down fortress-America before that happens.
