The author, Roy Altman, is a US District Judge in the Southern District of Florida. He was appointed by Trump.
As the Trump administration, in its recent announcements regarding the Venezuela invasion, floated the idea that Maduro might be indicted in S.D. Fla., consider the propriety of this op-ed.
Even if one were to be convinced that Maduro's removal were positive for Venezuela, it's an issue apart from whether the US has the right to decide that he held power unlawfully; whether the US can and should remove and/or criminally prosecute the acting/apparent head of state of a sovereign nation; and whether the President may constitutionally do so (e.g., without Congress first declaring war).
In my view, a district judge's celebration of such action implies the condoning of it, and imprudently so.
