I've not used KDE for a very long time, are you saying that they now have shareware-style nag dialogs in KDE itself? Or is this just something on the KDE website, like Wikipedia does?
- sho_hn 9mo agoIt's a desktop notification that fires once toward the end of the year. It can be disabled by the user, and distributions can also pre-disable it (some do). > Or is this just something on the KDE website, like Wikipedia does? In Wikipedia's case the website is the product, so I'd say it's about the same.
- LorenzoGood 9mo agoYes but KDE actually needs money, unlike Wikipedia.
- GaryBluto 9mo ago> It's a desktop notification that fires once toward the end of the year. Never thought I'd see the day when FOSS defends advertising embedded in a desktop environment.
- sho_hn 9mo agoIt's not advertising. And what you quoted was an explanation, not a defense.
