GOOG +65% YTD. Opposite of dead.
- mikert89 10mo agounfortunately, google is better than ever
- allknowingfrog 10mo agoThe article is specifically about the decline of Adwords, not the company as a whole.
- shadowgovt 10mo agoBoth of these things can be true: - Google, the company, is doing pretty well in the stock market. - Google, the advertising company, isn't generating good ROI for its advertising customers. From Google's point of view, they've been very gunshy about having ads be their only revenue stream for years; I wouldn't be surprised that the consequence is the value there is drying up.

- InsideOutSanta 10mo agoAdvertising revenue being up is also consistent with the linked article, since the writer had to increase ad spend to get any results before giving up entirely.
- emodendroket 10mo agoIt's also not broken out -- for instance, if people move to advertising on YouTube instead of AdWords that's still revenue for Google.
- tyingq 10mo agoThough, that doesn't really conflict with the story. He increased his ad spend before he figured out it wasn't working. Which would be more $$ for Google.
- larodi 10mo agois super ineffective, indeed. if you need to pay 20$ to get s.o. to pay you 50$ for a service/product, well in all honesty calling people one by one and giving them 10$ is more likely to result in sale.
