Nearly every toll (in NJ or surrounding states) is done via EZ Pass a/o license plate readers.
It’s nearly impossible to travel without being tracked.
- DetectDefect 10mo agoIt's this. Data is effectively replacing dollars as fiat currency, due in large part to unbridled money printing.
- chiefalchemist 9mo agoThe other factor for me is revenue. From tolls to speeding tickets, it’s all revenue streams. No need to increase formal taxes when you can add revenue via other means.
- DetectDefect 9mo agoData from surveilling toll payers is worth significantly more than the moneys collected from them.
- chiefalchemist 9mo agoWhy does it have to be one or the other? Why can’t the gov do surveillance, profit from it, and charge us for the privilege?
