FSF Criticize New Nintendo DRM
- markus_zhang 10mo agoJust don’t buy the piece of shit, then.
- 999900000999 10mo agoThis has always been the answer. It's ultimately an ultra locked down Android game console. Stores should be banned from selling open box systems though, it's not fair to the next owner. We have so many good Android consoles coming out right now. Your can buy a steam deck for around the same price. I'll miss fire emblem, but I refuse to rent such an expensive device until Nintendo remotely bricks it. Keep in mind if they accidentally auto ban you , you'll have no real recourse.
- killingtime74 10mo agoBanned? I mean theres a long list of problematic products before we come to this.
- 999900000999 10mo agoThe open box consoles anyway. You have no control over if the first user has been banned.
- killingtime74 10mo agoTrue, hopefully people buy from a place with a good return policy
- intothemild 10mo agoNot to forget that ultimately it's just the same games over and over again. Sometimes they change enough that everyone gets excited.
- 999900000999 10mo agoFire Emblem is probably the only Nintendo franchise I care about, but arguably Valkyria Chronicles( which Sega is probably done with) supercedes it in many ways. The gameplay is very different, but both are tactical story heavy games.
- markus_zhang 10mo agoYeah man. Spread the message to the teenagers too.
- 3836293648 10mo agoIt's literally not running Android though. It's a complete from scratch OS, nothing shared with the linux based world
- Bridged7756 10mo agoJust buy one used and hack it (SW1). I wanted one to play games with my gf. I bought one a bit ago, sent it to be mod chipped, will get it back probably tomorrow. Win win to me. Nintendo doesn't see a dollar from me, and I get to enjoy all their catalogue. Will probably move to the SW2 later, if it ever gets hacked.
- mindslight 10mo agoWhen RMS has the itch to play a video game, he emails someone to do it for him. (hey hey, I kid because I love)
- ChrisArchitect 10mo agoTitle: New Nintendo DRM bans consoles, makes users beg for forgiveness
- immibis 10mo agoIf you live in a place with consumer protection laws you can probably get a refund on all your games and your console by suing them
