I had a mentor/colleague give me a piece of advice that is somewhat related: "People will remember the quality of your work far longer than the time it took". I've found it to be true through my experience. I will admit though, I generally do not get tapped to do the quick hacks when in a pinch, but that's a feature, not a bug, in my opinion.
