- bryanlarsen 10mo agoYou're misreading the original comment. As originally used, the city on a hill comment was about aspirations, not achievements. IOW, the US was aspiring to be the city on the hill, not that it was. And then JumpCrissCross's comment says that the US has stopped even aspiring to be the city on the hill. It's a comment saying the US has fallen. How is that absurdly self-congratulatory?
