Incorrect. Punk has roots in reggae that would make it Caribbean, not American.

- adfm 10mo agoWhile the band Death did evolve into a reggae band and Bad Brains, the undisputed originators of hardcore did have a reggae component, I would have to say that punk rock roots are very much rock 'n roll. Fun fact, the song "Buffalo Soldier" was directly inspired by The Banana Splits theme song.
