Aren't all of the super rich ideologues? Ellisons father Larry for sure is. So is Ruppert Murdoch.
The only interesting thing about David Ellison is that his politics are different (slightly to the center) from his father. That's uncommon in those circles.

Part of the reason Shari Redstone sold paramount in the first place ties back to frustration around CBS's Gaza coverage. It's no secret, and mainly what I was hinting at when I said he was an ideologue. Not that it's his only reason for the acquisitions however
