I’m the VPE for Field Service Mobile at Salesforce. We rolled out AI assistants to our engineering teams earlier this year.
We expected faster boilerplate and unit tests (which we got). But the real shift was upstream. We found engineers are using the tools heavily to pressure-test PRDs, draft design docs, and spot gaps in requirements before writing the first line of code.
We also found that despite being a mobile shop, the first-party tools from platform vendors (Apple/Google) aren't winning; the team prefers third-party tools that fit the workflow better.
Wanted to share our retrospective on the rollout, how we handled the "job anxiety" conversation, and where the tools are actually adding value vs. just generating noise.
