Railroads will be allowed to reduce inspections and rely more on technology
- MrCoffee7 11mo agoThis sounds like a terrible idea. I guess people have already forgotten about the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment carrying hazardous materials and the disaster it caused for that town https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Palestine,_Ohio,_train_derailment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Palestine,_Ohio,_train_de... .
- pixl97 11mo agoPeople have not forgot, the executives and politicians don't care. I donate to your reelection and you adjust the law so I can make billions. Then after the disaster you tell the victims that the law allows them to sue for the value of a used empty gift card or chewed bubble gum, whichever is worth less.
- jackyinger 11mo agoYep, and there are many more incidents along similar lines. For instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Union_Pacific_oil_train_fire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Union_Pacific_oil_train_f... This move is about putting the bottom line above safety.
- markus_zhang 11mo agoHow good are those inspections? I get we are going to automate as much as possible, but safety is the concern.
