My own hypothesis is that our lives will become so saturated with ads that they will completely lose their effectiveness, advertisers and platforms will finally be forced to acknowledge that they aren't effective, and a monetization crisis will follow. Subscriptions everywhere.
- ChrisMarshallNY 11mo agoSounds like Japan. However, their ads are crazy "in your face." They haven't given up, at all. They doubled down.
- tonymet 11mo agoIt’s more like drugs in that they will be less effective , but not completely, so we will continue to get more exposures as advertisers compete for attention
- roncesvalles 11mo agoThey won't lose effectiveness because once in a while you will actually find something you want, click on the ad, and buy it. The reason there's ads everywhere is because they actually do work. It's not a hypothesis.
- kylecazar 11mo agoI didn't claim what you think I did. I said that I hypothesize that they will become increasingly ineffective with time. Data already shows it's trending in that direction.
