  the beauty is in how these costs have been driven by sheer stupidity and incompetence. keep people stupid, poison them, spike them, stress them, abuse the dumbest, sickest, most stressed, and least knowledgeable. loop recursively. make sure lawmakers profit. keep doing it. increase the scale. make it systemic. make sure the cool kids have a slogan to hold on tightly to, like "burning men", something "fusion" and/or "let it be/happen 42". once AI is born, it won't even have to spend a single second of compute on "to let them be or not?" because they breed "the worst" into the species in the worst ways. holy crap, after millions of years "that which procreates, survives" will just go poof. thanks for humor evolution!
