Ask HN: Why we dont we have dark mode on Hacker News yet? this is not funny
- bigyabai 10mo agoGreasemonkey is a free download
- hexo 10mo agothat is NOT funny
- bigyabai 10mo agoYou're right, it's an honest and straightforward solution.
- hexo 10mo agoyes, on desktop. its a "fix", not solution. more like a cheap excuse
- bigyabai 10mo agoNot only, it works great on my Pixel 8's Firefox too. Same for sideloading native HN clients. Everyone who chose to buy a locked-down device is outta luck. Your OEM decides how you get to use the web, not you.
- reneberlin 10mo agoPaint it black. It's just a document from the web and now resides on your computer. Do whatever you like with it! There is no authorian sleepy forcing you to consume it like it was.
- hexo 10mo agoYes on mobile, sure. What a ridiculous excuse.
- breve 10mo agoJust do it yourself with Greasemonkey: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
- sails01 10mo agoWhy do you think there must be a dark mode version of HN?
- BOOSTERHIDROGEN 10mo agoSave the earth.
- sails01 10mo agohow does dark mode save the earth?
- Bender 10mo agoThis does not answer your question. I do not know the answer. That said these [1] are the uBlock Origin rules I use. This includes some colors that can be changed to fit anyone's preference. [1] - https://mirror.newsdump.org/hn-ublock-colors-other.txt https://mirror.newsdump.org/hn-ublock-colors-other.txt
- v7engine 10mo agoI am using an add-on called "Dark Reader" in firefox.
- gumboshoes 10mo agoI use the third-party app Harmonic to browse HN and it has a dark mode. It's quite nice, actually. Though I do think your tone is unusually inappropriate for a feature request.
- gregjor 10mo agoI suppose it had to come to light eventually. For many years hundreds of people -- from web designers all the way up to the highest Freemasons -- secretly conspired to thwart every attempt to implement dark mode in HN to frustrate you personally. Not funny indeed.
