Just a high level question. My youngest son was adopted. He isn't white. He is naturalized. Should we go ahead and renew his passport so he can carry around a passport card at this point(we never got one in the past because they seemed like a waste). It seems crazy but with people being grabbed off the street for being brown, it seems prudent have a quick way to prove citizenship.
- proberts 10mo agoIt's awful to have to consider these things. But since you ask, he also could carry his naturalization certificate. The other option is to get a Certificate of Naturalization but that's akin to getting a passport.

- jacquesm 10mo agoI don't think they were addressing you.
- rayiner 10mo agoThey said “people [are] being grabbed off the street for being brown”—if that were true, I feel like I would have noticed.
- jacquesm 10mo agoIt is true. There are 100's (probably 1000's) of confirmed news stories by now. Just like people get into car accidents is real, even if you personally haven't been in a car accident yet. And people dying is real, even if you are still alive. You are a sample of '1' and you don't get to invalidate other people's experiences based on your own. The only reason you do not notice, given that it is true is because you would either rather have it not be true or because you are actively working not to notice.
- rayiner 10mo agoNobody is being grabbed off the street for “being brown.”
