I did my apprenticeship at Jaguar/Daimler in the early 70's here in the UK.
OHV = Over head valve. this engine has a single camshaft within the engine with push rods opening the inlet and exhaust valves via a rocker shaft.
OHC = Over head camshaft. A single camshaft sits in the head and drives the inlet and exhaust valves via a rocker shaft.
SOHC = Single overhead camshaft. the camshaft sits in the head, and directly drives the inlet and exhaust valves, with no rocker shaft.
DOHC = Double overhead camshaft. Two camshafts with th head, one driving directly the exhaust valves and one directly driving the inlet valves.
