You are in the throes of deep depression. There's nothing I can say that will make that better, but I just wanted you to know that I hear you and understand.
Try to remember that things aren't really as dark as they seem to you, and also try to remember to keep doing things, including physically active things, even though you don't want to and even though it seems like there's no point to them.
You can, and will, move out of this space unless you give in to resignation. Progress may seem slow or even nonexistent for a while. Try to have faith that as long as you are working on getting better, you will get there in the end.

I should definitely do some physical activity… these last few days I've been rotting, fatiguing to do even the things I love the most. I'm trying to enjoy things a little more though… my university courses are really interesting - Mixed-Signal Circuit Design, RF Circuit Design, Advanced Control Theory, Formal Languages - though with every joy there's always the fear of failure :/ what I think I am missing the most is a positive thinking person in my life… also the friends I still see seem kinda down lately maybe I should get an emotional support cat, though a pet rock would be more appropriate my soul lmao
- JohnFen 11mo agoMay I offer a suggestion that might seem odd, but I've found is very effective at countering depression? Not "waving a magic wand" effective (there is no magic wand), but I consider it a bit of a superpower. I've heard from a lot of others that it works for them as well. Help somebody in need. It doesn't have to be (but can be) doing formal volunteer work. It can be as simple as offering kind words and an ear to someone, making a meal for a neighbor going through a hard time, or even doing some random nice thing for a stranger. When doing this, make sure that your focus is on the person you're helping, and not on you. There is a bit of truth to the adage that "we get what we give". Give others what you need yourself.
