You think like this because you have the privilege of not being affected by discrimination. It's not enough to "not be a racist". You are being downvoted because of this, and thinking everyone but you is immature for this conversation just highlights this.

- slightwinder 11mo agoSorry to break your delusion, but there has never been true equality on the internet, it's all just different bubbles, with different discriminations.
- dijit 11mo agokeep telling me my lived experience, please. I have no idea how I lived before you told me what happened in my live. If there was discrimination it was because you didn’t contribute, or you opened the discussion. Doxxing in the 90s wasn't a meaningful risk, and social networks were small and largely isolated. the condescension here is palpable. as if you know more? thanks for your sacrifice: enlightened one.
- slightwinder 11mo agoHence the "delusion". You are just a typical case of something many here experienced, including myself.
- dijit 11mo agoTotal pish, once you got online you were just a name. Didn’t like where you were, there was always somewhere else to go and a new name to take. Getting access to the internet was a major issue for the poor (a situation I have first-hand experience in)- but once you were in, you were part of the club. Unless you behaved poorly- then you had to make a new name for yourself somewhere else.
- slightwinder 11mo agoWriting all those delusions and not connecting the dots is insightful.. You are so pampered in your own little delusion that don't seem to understand the actual concept of real discrimination. And looking at your socials, I understand why, you don't look like someone who has ever experienced real discrimination and just hissy fit about any hurt feelings as "discrimination".

- slightwinder 11mo agoYeah, congratulation for having a normal life of suffering, you are not the only one. Doesn't answer the question why you are still so ignorant about the suffering of others and live in that a delusion of internet having been some kind of pink pony farm.

- basscomm 11mo ago> the main reason I liked computers was because we were all equals on the internet You must have had access to a different internet than I did. That is not and has never been true. The only way for everyone to be 'equal on the internet' (whatever that means) is to throw away or disregard everything that makes each of us unique, and all that leaves us with is a homogeneous beige sludge.
- dijit 11mo agoI’m sure it’s no irony to you - That right now. I’m reading your comment as if we are entirely equals no matter what the circumstances of your background or whatever job you have. The only thing I know about you is that you call yourself, “basscomm” and unless I go digging (something that I couldn’t have done in the era of the BBS) then I’d have no way of judging your character before reading the words that you speak.
- tosti 11mo agoI literally didn't get a job last week because I'm white and have a common white surname. They didn't ask anything technical at all.
- komali2 11mo agoThis beggars belief, can you expand?
- gchamonlive 11mo agoIt's tough, and I empathize. But imagine being denied these opportunities systemically, for a lifetime.
