i've always felt the social world order is as follows:
Facebook/Insta: I'm cool!
Twitter/X: I'm smart!
LinkedIn: I'm successful!
Tik Tok: (I have no idea)
As long as you know this, it all makes more sense.

- mattgreenrocks 10mo agoAka, which vanity is one most vulnerable to. Makes sense that they’d segment out like this, since the space tends to be winner take all.

- AnimalMuppet 10mo agoTwitter/X: I'm smart? Seriously? That's not how I think of it at all. I mean, yes, there are some people trying to use Twitter to show that they're smart. But my impression is that the overall vibe of it is trying to show that you're influential. People follow you. They retweet your posts. That's the "success metric". Note well: I'm not actually on Twitter. This is my impression from outside.
