Very interesting read. It's fascinating to see the functional paradigm being applicable towards individual services and components rather than just functions. It's somewhat unfortunate that most of us will never have to deal with this kind of scale/employee ratio, where engineers need to fully understand the implications of dozens of major trade-offs like the ones Martin talks about. I think the state of the art would advance much faster if more of us had to deal with this kind of work on daily basis.
