Isn't Mamdani not even sworn in until next year?
- toomuchtodo 11mo agoCorrect. Jan 1st, 2026. Flagged.
- drweevil 11mo agoExactly. How is this related to Mamdani? (as implies by the gratuitous inclusion of his name in the headline.)
- delichon 11mo agoThey are planning for him to honor his campaign promises. It does sometimes happen that a politician is honest. I don't think it is so rare that it compromises fiduciary duty to prepare for it.
- drweevil 11mo agoNone of this is brought up in the text. It's presented instead as a general trend within Amazon: > "The layoffs come as part of Amazon’s strategy to streamline its workforce, eliminating excess managerial layers and fostering more ownership within teams." and other tech cos: >"Amazon's cuts are part of a larger trend in tech, as companies shift toward leaner models." So why Mamdani's NYC? (BTW, what a weird article. It reads like a press release from Amazon.)
