TIL what the green names mean on HN (new account).
I once worked in an Information Operations group. It has left me deeply suspicious of the verisimilitude of online personae. One of the things I appreciate about HN is the ability to check whether I'm talking to a human, and whether they have a cohesive sentiment.

- smt88 11mo agoMods do their best here, but there's no way to check whether you're talking to a human (on HN or any other digital messaging service)
- pksebben 11mo agomy metric for now is "do they have human-sounding posts from more than a year ago"
