- rchaud 11mo agoThe fashion world's biggest sellers are handbags and shoes, which are practical purchases and tend to feature pretty intricate design details. This is a Speedo for a phone, and it makes Apple's already over-the-top descriptions of its products sound even more absurd.
- reducesuffering 11mo agoNothing about the fashion world’s $5000 bags is practical. It’s 99% status signaling
- bigyabai 11mo ago> It’s 99% status signaling So is buying a $5,000 laptop. Much like shoes and bags, a kernel of practical demand quickly grows into an unlimited demand for vain materialism.
- Razengan 11mo ago> So is buying a $5,000 laptop. No they actually do shit
- bigyabai 11mo agoSo does a $5,000 bag. 99% of owning a $5,000 laptop is virtue signalling.

- morshu9001 11mo agoI don't like either of these two worlds. Yes, plenty of people will buy an expensive laptop/desktop that's only ever used to run benchmarks. If anything I could admire the $5K bag more if it's actually nicer than the cheaper ones, but a lot of the time it's not.
