Today we're praising Ruby for... having a version parsing utility in the standard library? Really? Many languages like Python, C#, even PHP have it too.
- jbverschoor 1y agoJust not the same. And yes.. without ecosystem/libraries, everybody’s just creating their own thing over and over again and there’s not a coherent way of thinking The Joy of Ruby
- PufPufPuf 1y agoRuby developers truly are a special breed. I once spent a few months in a Ruby company, so I'm speaking from experience. Debugging anything in Rails creates strong feelings, but I wouldn't describe them as "joy".
- jbverschoor 1y agoFully agree. The same can be said about JavaScript. Too many hashmaps being used where you should just use a class?
