  Perhaps the game Monopoly could do with an additional Get out of Jail card. I wanted to type Gaol, but feared that would be pretentious.

    The UK version of Monopoly uses Jail, not Gaol. It looks like it did from the first UK editions in the 1930s, so even then I guess Gaol was out of fashion.

      I just checked an image of a French Monopoly board and that has “En Prison”. Not meaning to other French people, as so can easily happen. Is there a French equivalent of HackerNews?

  I was following this keenly, since I actually live in Epping. With the original prisoner release error it was very telling that the minister railed the incompetence of the clerk. When I knew full well that there’s a whole system that must have been tettering for years. It highlighted their lack of real experience.
